Last updated: 15 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how KY AUST PTY LTD ("KY", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you visit or buy from our online store.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Information Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).

By using our store, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.

1. Who we are

KY AUST PTY LTD is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and sells pet products online.

If you have any question about privacy, please contact us through the Contact Us page on our website.

2. What personal information we collect

Depending on how you use our store, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, and shipping and billing address.
  • Order information: the products you buy, order number, order value, delivery instructions and tracking details.
  • Payment information: payment confirmation and limited card details, such as card type and the last four digits. We do not see or store your full card number. Payments are handled securely by our payment providers (see section 5).
  • Account information: if you create an account, your login email and order history.
  • Messages: what you send us through our Contact form or by email, including any order number, photos or other details you choose to share.
  • Device and browsing information: your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, pages viewed, and how you use the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have subscribed to our emails.

You don't have to give us your personal information. If you don't, however, we may not be able to process your order or answer your enquiry. You can browse our store without giving your name. To place an order, though, we need your contact and delivery details.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information:

  • directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, sign up for emails or contact us;
  • automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website;
  • from our service providers, such as Shopify, payment providers and delivery companies. For example, they may send us payment confirmations or delivery updates.

4. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • process, pack, ship and deliver your order, and send you order and shipping updates, including tracking numbers;
  • process payments and help prevent fraud;
  • answer your questions and provide customer support, including returns and refunds;
  • manage your account, if you have one;
  • send you marketing emails, only if you have subscribed (see section 7);
  • understand how our store is used, so we can improve our products, website and service;
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We will only use your information for another purpose if you agree, or if the law allows or requires it.

5. Who we share your information with

We don't sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted parties that help us run our business, and only as much as they need:

  • Shopify, our e-commerce platform, which hosts our store and stores order data;
  • payment providers, such as Shopify Payments, PayPal and the other payment methods shown at checkout;
  • our fulfilment partner, which packs and dispatches orders;
  • delivery companies, which deliver your parcel and provide tracking;
  • email and analytics tools, which send our emails and help us understand how the store is used;
  • advertising partners, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google and TikTok, where we use them, to measure and show relevant ads;
  • professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, and government authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these service providers are located, or store data, outside Australia and New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information in line with Australian and New Zealand privacy law.

6. Our relationship with Shopify

Our store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify collects and processes personal information about your use of our store and to provide and improve its services.

To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.

7. Marketing emails

We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (NZ).

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Even if you unsubscribe, we will still send emails about your orders, such as order confirmations and shipping updates.

8. Cookies

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep the store working, for example to remember your cart;
  • understand how visitors use the site;
  • show relevant advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the store, such as the cart and checkout, may not work properly without them.

Where available, you can also manage targeted-advertising preferences through our data-sharing opt-out page.

9. How we protect and keep your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. For example, we use secure platforms, encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and access controls.

No method of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:

  • to fulfil your order and provide support;
  • to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, which in Australia generally means keeping business records for at least 5 years;
  • to resolve disputes.

After that, we securely delete or de-identify it.

10. Children

Our store is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-party links

Our website may contain links to other websites, such as carrier tracking sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies.

12. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need.

To make a request, please contact us through our Contact Us page. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on your request.

We will respond within 30 days. We won't charge you for making a request. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we will tell you why in writing, as far as the law allows, and explain how you can complain.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first through our Contact Us page. Please give us as much detail as you can. We will look into it and respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to:

  • Australia: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), at www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
